Monday, November 10, 2014 - 7 p.m. - The Joseph C. Bancroft Conference Room (Croft 107)  Dr. Ulrich Bach - Associate Professor of German at Texas State University

In collaboration with the University of Mississippi Department of Modern Languages, the Croft Institute for International Studies welcomes Dr. Ulrich Bach, Associate Professor of German at Texas State University.

Dr. Bach's lecture is the first of two in this multi-week event series highlighting the Fall of the Berlin Wall.  His lecture will explore German identity after the 1990 unification of Germany as represented in two recent German films.  He will focus on the portrayal of East German life in The Legend of Rita and on the depiction of the fall of the Berlin Wall in No Place to Go.

Dr. Bach's research interests include early 20th-century cultural history and postwar German cinema.  His degrees are from the University in Mainz/Germany (B.A.) and the University of London/UK (M.A., 1996).  Dr. Bach has been at Texas State University since 1997.
