Croft Alumnus Invites Students and Recent Graduates to Apply for Jobs with Department of Defense Office of the Inspector General

Croft graduate Michael Patronik (B.A. 2006) recently sent us and invitation for students and recent graduates to use the Pathways Program to apply for a job with the Department of Defense Office of the Inspector General.

The Pathways Program (https://www.usajobs.gov/StudentsAndGrads) is a way into federal employment aimed at current students and recent grads. My agency – Department of Defense Office of the Inspector General – will be opening up a large number of auditor jobs starting April 15. The auditor jobs are open to any major, but require 24 hours of accounting credits.

The “recent graduate” designation usually requires having graduated in the last two years, but Peace Corps and military service can alter that time requirement.  The OIG will be opening up a wave of other jobs on April 15, as well, but this component is mostly auditors.

For interested applicants, create your resume and profile beforehand on USAJobs.  This wave of jobs will be open for only three days in order to manage the volume of applications. Interested applicants should be as specific and quantitative as possible, and be sure to mirror the keywords in the description of the position in your own resume. The “two-page limit” does not apply to the Fed.

Others interested in working for the federal government should keep an eye on that Pathways website. It’s a great way to get into the Fed, and applicants typically will not be up against military veterans who have hiring preference.

Michael would be happy to answer specific questions from Croft students and alumni - contact Dr. Schenck if you'd like his e-mail.
