Azam Ahmed is The New York Times bureau chief for Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. He has written about government spying programs, drug violence, migration, and natural disasters in the region. In his talk, he will discuss the role of the Mexican state in undermining the rule of law and human rights abuses, as well as the ongoing “Spygate†controversy.
