How to Apply to the Croft Institute

Current High School Seniors

As a competitive academic program, all students must apply to both the Croft Institute for International Studies and the University of Mississippi. 1. Apply here to the University of Mississippi 2. Sign up here to receive updates on our new Competitive Program Application. We anticipate this new portal to be open for all students during the second week of October (2025)

For questions, please call the Croft Institute for Intentional Studies, at 662-915-1500 or by e-mail at croft@olemiss.edu.

Preparing a Croft Application

Although the new portal for our Competitive Program Application may not open up until October, interested candidates are encouraged to prepare application materials now! As a part of this application, all students must request three letters of recommendation (one from a teacher, one from a counselor or school administrator, and a third from a second teacher, supervisor, or mentor) and respond to the following essay prompt: Please explain why you want to major in international studies. As part of your answer, address why you chose the language and the region of the world indicated in your application. (Your answer should be between 300 and 500 words).

Deadlines

Croft Scholarship Deadline: January 10, 2026. Applications received after that date will not be eligible for scholarship consideration and will be considered for admission on a space-available basis only.

Early Action Deadline: Monday, November 10, 2025. Students who apply before this date should expect an admissions decision in December.

Current Undergraduates

Students currently in college should contact the Croft Institute at 662-915-1500 or croft@olemiss.edu to learn more about the application process for sophomore entry.

Standards for Admissions
Successful applicants to the Croft Institute for International Studies will rank near the top of their high school class and have a composite score of 28 or higher on the ACT (the equivalent of 1250 on the math and critical reading portions of the SAT or 1310 or higher on the SATR) and an unweighted high school GPA of 3.50 or higher, or be valedictorian or salutatorian of their high schools. The Croft Institute encourages well rounded students with strong GPAs and students with special skills in one or more foreign languages to apply even if their test scores do not quite match the above requirements.
